Spring 2010
Dear Adult Soccer Players,
The Wattles Park Men's Club will begin its 2010 Adult/High School Fall Season with games beginning Saturday, May 8th and lasting through June 12th. All teams play six games. The WPMC's philosophy over the past 56 years has been to provide equal opportunities for boys and girls to participate in a wholesome, well-supervised athletic activities. The focus has always been on youth sports. The 2009 Spring and Fall Soccer Seasons saw the start of a very successful Adult/High School program that reached over 250 adults on fourteen teams.
Because of that success, we are going to have a Spring League for Adults. Students that are playing for their high school soccer teams in the Spring are ineligible to compete in this league. That is an MHSAA (Michigan High School Athletic Association) ruling that all schools in the Battle Creek area observe.
Players that are making up their own teams should contact Gary Lincoln (wpmc49@aol.com or 979-4336) so that plans can be made ahead of time. Player numbers per teams should be from 16-20. Players that want to participate but do not have a specific team in mind may sign up individually or with a small group, and will be placed on a team (or combined to form a new team).
For those unfamiliar with the WPMC's Soccer Program: (1) All players receive a soccer jersey top; (2) Games are played on the West Field and the Olympic Field at the Wattles Park Elementary School, with games on Saturday afternoons, beginning at approximately 3:00; (3) There is a $40 per player fee to participate; (4) The WPMC is the largest year-round recreational volunteer youth organization in the state of Michigan, serving over 6,000 youths in the sports of Fall Soccer, Spring Soccer, Indoor Soccer, Baseball, Softball, T-Ball, Indoor Baseball, Floor Hockey, Volleyball, Basketball, Golf and Lacrosse; (5) The WPMC has been in operation for 56 years and is a 501 (c-3) tax-exempt organization as chartered by the Internal Revenue Service.
